Meet the Team

Loretta Mueffelman, LPC, NCC, CCTP

I’m a National Certified Counselor and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional with training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), Attachment Based Therapy (ABT) and the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT). With over 10 years of experience, I’ve supported children, adolescents, and their parents in navigating challenges, processing difficult experiences, and building stronger, more connected relationships.

My approach is compassionate and grounded in trust, empathy, and the belief that healing happens through meaningful connection and consistent support.

George, FLCT ( Four-Legged Co-Therapist)

George may not say much, but his presence speaks volumes. As a certified therapy dog, he brings calm, comfort, and quiet support to the therapy space—especially for those feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or unsure of where to start.

Whether he’s curled up nearby or offering a gentle nudge when you need it most, George helps create a safe, grounded environment where healing feels just a little easier. He’s an expert in unconditional presence, and his only job is to be there for you—no pressure, no expectations.

His involvement is always optional and guided entirely by your comfort. But if you’re open to it, he’s more than happy to be part of your journey—tail wags and all.

Services

Individual Therapy

Begin healing, gain clarity, and move at your pace.

This is done in a private, one-on-one space (in person or virtually) where you can talk openly with a trained therapist about what’s on your mind. It’s a collaborative and supportive process that focuses entirely on you—your emotions, your challenges, your goals, and your path forward.

Family Therapy

Strengthening connections, one session at a time

All families experience challenges — but you don’t have to navigate them alone. Family therapy offers a supportive and structured environment where each person’s voice is valued and heard. It’s a space to explore difficult dynamics, improve communication, and work through conflict with guidance and care. This can include the child or with parents only.

Therapy is held in person or telehealth in Oregon. ***Exclusively telehealth services available to clients residing in Arizona***

Community Based Supports

Parent Connection Workshops

Begin healing, gain clarity, and move at your pace.

This is a specialized training designed to help parents build healthy, secure connections with their children. Drawing on Dr. Bruce Perry’s Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics and the 3 R’s (Regulate, Relate, Reason), as well as Dr. Karyn Purvis’ Trust-Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI®) approach, our programs provide practical, evidence-based strategies to support relational healing and resilience. These trainings empower parents with the tools and understanding needed to nurture trust, strengthen attachment, and promote positive outcomes for their children.

Professional Development for Educators

Strengthening connections, one session at a time

We offer professional development trainings for educators grounded in Dr. Bruce Perry’s work on fostering healthy connections and the Neurosequential Model. Our programs equip teachers with practical tools to understand and support students’ regulatory needs, using neurodevelopmentally informed strategies to create safe, relationally rich classroom environments. By helping students achieve regulation, educators can maximize learning opportunities and promote academic and social success for every child.

Modalities

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a therapy that helps you heal from painful memories, trauma, anxiety, and other overwhelming experiences.

When something upsetting happens—especially something traumatic—your brain sometimes doesn’t fully process it. That can leave you feeling stuck, reactive, or like the past keeps replaying in the present.

EMDR helps your brain reprocess those memories in a safe, guided way. During sessions, you’ll think about a difficult memory while following gentle back-and-forth movements with your eyes (or tapping or sound). This helps your brain sort through the experience so it feels less intense and no longer controls how you feel.

TBRI

Trust Based Relational Interventions

TBRI is a caring approach that helps children who’ve experienced trauma feel safe and connected. It builds trust through loving relationships, meets their basic needs, and gently guides behavior. This helps children heal and strengthens family bonds.

TBRI uses three key principles:

  • Connecting through warmth and positive interactions
  • Empowering by ensuring safety and meeting basic needs
  • Correcting behavior gently and respectfully

By following these steps, TBRI helps children heal, develop healthy coping skills, and build stronger connections with caregivers and loved ones.

NMT

Neurosequential Model of Therapuetics

A way to understand how trauma and early experiences affect a child’s brain—and how to support healing in the right order.

Instead of focusing just on behavior, NMT looks at what parts of the brain need support first. It helps guide treatment by meeting the brain where it is, using things like movement, rhythm, and safe relationships to build a strong foundation for healing.

ABT

Attachment Based Therapy

As children, we learn how to relate to others based on how our emotional needs were met. If those early bonds were safe and nurturing, we tend to develop trust and connection more easily. But if they were inconsistent or hurtful, it can lead to struggles with closeness, trust, or self-worth later in life.

This therapy helps you understand those early patterns and how they may be affecting your current relationships. Together, we work to create new, healthier ways of connecting, while building emotional awareness, security, and self-compassion.
